Pourquoi spécifier le monofilament 50 mm

Built for Speed, Contact and Stick Control

Lacrosse combines the sprint-and-cut demands of soccer with the body contact of football, and adds stick-work that requires precise ball behavior on the ground. The turf surface must deliver on all three simultaneously — and do it through seasons of multi-sport use.

Consistent Ground-Ball Behavior

A lacrosse ball hitting turf must bounce predictably — not too high, not dead. The 50 mm pile with sand and performance infill produces the controlled rebound that lets ground balls stay playable and ground passes track true across the field.

Cleat Release Under Lateral Load

Lacrosse players change direction constantly — dodging, checking, cutting to the goal. Rotational resistance must be high enough for traction but low enough that cleats release before joints absorb the twist. PE monofilament fiber density and infill composition control this balance.

Contact-Sport Impact Protection

Body checks and falls from contested ground balls generate significant impact forces. The 50 mm pile, performance infill and optional shock pad work as a system to attenuate those impacts — a consideration that matters for both player safety and field certification testing.

Conception performante

Where Ball Speed Meets Body Contact

Lacrosse is played at pace. Players sprint, check, dodge and cradle — all while managing a small rubber ball that bounces differently on artificial turf than it does on natural grass. The surface must be fast enough for transition play, soft enough for body checks, and consistent enough for ground-ball pickups that happen dozens of times per game.

The 50 mm pile height provides the infill depth needed to control ball bounce — too shallow and the ball skips unpredictably; too deep and ground balls become sluggish. Sand and performance infill work together to produce the controlled rebound that keeps the ball playable at ground level while still supporting fast footwork above.

Diamond-profile fibers resist flattening in the crease areas and midfield zones where traffic concentrates. Wave and stem profiles offer a softer underfoot feel that some programs prefer for practice surfaces or multi-sport fields shared with football and soccer.

Many lacrosse fields share with American football — particularly at the school and community level. The same 50 mm system with sand and rubber infill serves both sports, with line markings for each game tufted into the carpet during production. This dual-use capability is a strong argument for municipal and school budgets.

Lacrosse’s combination of sprint speed, stick-work and body contact places it in the same turf-performance category as football and American football — a single 50 mm system can serve all three sports on one field.

Relyir supplies the turf product with full specification documentation and works with your field-test laboratory on projects that target ASTM or equivalent performance benchmarks.

  • Founded in 2006 — two decades of artificial grass manufacturing from Wuxi, Jiangsu.
  • 12,000 m² campus — all eight production stages managed in a single facility.
  • 2015 automation investment — sports turf line upgraded, lifting capacity by 150%.
  • Export-ready from day one — the team has served 500+ customers in 50+ countries since 2009.

1

Base en pierre

Compacted aggregate or asphalt with engineered drainage — the foundation that supports the high-speed footwork and impact loads lacrosse generates.

2

Stabilisateur de sable

Silica sand, typically 20–30 kg/m², brushed into the pile to weigh the system and keep fibers upright through repeated cutting and pivoting movements.

3

Apport de performance

SBR, TPE, EPDM or organic (cork) at 8–15 kg/m² — choice depends on budget, climate and whether the field shares with other sports.

4

Tampon de choc

Optional elastic layer for projects that prioritize impact absorption or share the field with American football programs that require lower G-max values.

Drainage and Crease-Area Maintenance

Every Relyir sports turf ships with perforated backing — drainage holes punched during our dedicated perforating step — so water passes through the carpet into the base layer rather than pooling on the playing surface.

Lacrosse crease areas and midfield zones see concentrated foot traffic and repeated stick contact. Regular brushing in these high-wear zones keeps fibers upright and infill evenly distributed. UV-stabilized PE fibers resist degradation under continuous sun exposure across all climate zones.

  • Perforated backing for rapid vertical drainage
  • UV-stabilized PE fibers for long-term outdoor performance
  • Sand + performance infill for consistent ball bounce behavior

Posez-nous votre question directement
Does lacrosse need a different turf than soccer or football?

Lacrosse uses the same 50 mm PE monofilament platform as soccer and American football. The main difference is that lacrosse ball bounce behavior is a key specification point — the small rubber ball must bounce predictably for ground-ball pickups. The same Relyir 50 mm models serve all three sports, making dual-use fields practical.

How does ball bounce differ on turf vs natural grass?

Artificial turf with proper sand and rubber infill produces a more consistent and slightly faster ball bounce than natural grass. The infill depth and fiber density control this — too little infill and the ball bounces higher; too much and it becomes sluggish. The 50 mm pile with 20–30 kg/m² sand and 8–15 kg/m² performance infill produces the controlled rebound lacrosse players expect.

Can our lacrosse field also host football and soccer?

Yes. Many school and community lacrosse fields are shared with football and soccer. The same 50 mm system with sand and rubber infill serves all three sports. Line markings for each game can be tufted into the carpet during production, or temporary paint can be applied after installation.

Is a shock pad needed for lacrosse?

Not required, but recommended if the field hosts American football or if your project targets specific impact-attenuation test values. Body checks and contested ground balls generate significant impact forces, and a shock pad reduces G-max readings while extending turf carpet life.

Quelles tailles de rouleaux et personnalisations sont disponibles ?

Standard rolls are 4 × 25 m or 2 × 25 m with a maximum width of 5 m. Field markings for lacrosse, football and soccer can be tufted directly into the carpet, and team logos are available on request. Blade density, pile height and fiber colors can be adjusted to project requirements.

What maintenance does a lacrosse turf field require?

Plan regular brushing to keep fibers upright — particularly in the crease areas and midfield zones where traffic concentrates. Periodic infill redistribution and top-up, seam inspections before each season, and decompaction in high-wear areas keep the field performing through its service life. Relyir provides maintenance guidance with every installation package.
